I need to be in better shape
You don't go to the gym before you get in shape
One of the most backwards things I have heard is that " I must get in better shape before going to the gym.
Lets be honest--that mindset is the way to stay stuck. It's like saying you will visit the doctor once your health improves. It defeats the entire purpose.
The gym isn't a destination for people who have already figured it out. It's a starting point. It's a place for progress, not perfection.
Your health should not be based on how you feel in the moment. It shouldn't be an emotional decision driven by doubt, insecurity or comparison. It should be intentional. Calculated. Planned.
Set goals.
Make them realistic.
Achieve them.
Then raise the standard. Waiting until you are in shape usually means waiting forever. The truth is that everyone in thegym started at some point. No one walks in already finished.
So make the decision today. Get up. Take the first step.
